Forgiveness is ultimately about freedom. Jesus did not come simply to make us better at carrying our burdens; He came to make us free. Freedom means we no longer have to live under the authority of shame, guilt, resentment, revenge, or the identities created by our wounds.
As September comes to a close, The Gift of Forgiveness brings us back to where we began: forgiveness is a gift. We receive it from Christ, allow it to transform us, and then become people who extend what we have received. Freedom is not found in holding on tighter; it is found in surrendering what God has asked us to release.

Monday • September 21-UPDATE
Hebrews 12:15“Looking diligently lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you.”
A root is hidden before its fruit becomes visible. Bitterness works the same way. It can live beneath the surface for a long time before it begins affecting our relationships, our peace, our decisions, and even our view of God.
Forgiveness is preventative as much as it is restorative. It helps us deal with wounds before they become identities. What we refuse to release today can become something our future has to fight tomorrow.
May today’s declaration remind you to pay attention to the roots growing in your heart. May God reveal hidden bitterness and give you the courage to pull up what no longer belongs in your life.

Genesis 50:20“But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good.”
Joseph's story reminds us that forgiveness does not require us to pretend evil was good. His brothers intended harm, and Joseph acknowledged it. Yet he also recognized that God had not surrendered His purpose to their actions.
This is one of the deepest dimensions of forgiveness: realizing that what happened to you does not have to determine what happens through you. God can redeem pain without rewriting history. He can bring purpose from places that once produced only pain.
